Climbing Instructor
Colorado State University Experiential Learning Program. Led groups
in team building, group dynamics, developing trust through rock
climbing (1992-1993).
Backcountry Skier
Experienced backcountry skier (1980-present) in Colorado, including
four years working as a field technician/graduate student in Loch
Vale, Rocky Mountain National Park. After 200+ winter trips to Loch
Vale and 3 pairs of broken skis, I moved on to 10th Mtn. Division
Hut trips.
International
Traveller
Antarctica, Member of the US Geological Survey Field Team in the
Dry Valleys of South Victorialand, Antarctica. Worked as a field
technician in a remote field camp over two Antarctic summers (1989,
1991). Lived in a North Face VE-24 for 3 months at a time, ate a
lot of Cadbury chocolate. Climbed a couple of small peaks solo during
my time off at night. My experiences were published in Women in
the Antarctic, Rothblum et al., Editors (1998).
Both professional (as a diatomist) and extremely non-professional
(as me) travel to many regions of the world, including Jordan, Former
Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, Antarctica, Greece, São
Tomé and Príncipe (West Africa), New Zealand, and
Taiwan. |
