McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica

Welcome to the McMurdo Dry Valleys, the coldest, driest thriving aquatic ecosystem on the planet. Here a group called the "Stream Team," a.k.a. Asgard Rangers, measure the streams, sample, and operate gauging stations throughout one of the only two Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites on the continent of Antarctica. The MCM LTER is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), and Lead Primary Investigator of the project is INSTAAR Fellow Michael Gooseff.
