Sea Ice gets Pushy

Sea ice pushes up the small, manmade drillling island Oooguruk on June 23, 2009. Oooguruk is located just offshore the Colville delta along the Beaufort Sea of Alaska. The island was constructed as a base for a drill platform in 2006 and sits in water about 4 or 5 feet (1.2 to 1.5 meters) deep. Its sides are from 15 feet (4.5 meters) to 30 feet (9 meters) above sea level.
