Water: A Zero Sum Game

Dr. Mark Williams heads up above 10,000 feet on Niwot Ridge to study where water comes from and how it is released across the American West.

Most of the usable water in the West comes from snowmelt, and as the climate warms the water supply will change. Williams and his colleagues study not only the quantity of the water supply, but climate change, groundwater storage, snow hydrology, and pollution as part of the Long-Term Ecological Research program.
