Public parking for all events is available in the lots on the south side of INSTAAR, EXCEPT for the Friday sessions.

Public parking on Friday is very limited. Most spaces are restricted to regular permit holders during the day. Please consider walking or using public transportation. If you really need a space, contact Wendy.Freeman@Colorado.EDU by 21 October so she can obtain a temporary permit for you.

If you get in a bind, there are a few pay meters are available north of the INSTAAR buildings on Marine Street as well as on the south side of the RL-3/ARC building. There is a four-hour maximum time limit (bring quarters), although you can add additional meter time during breaks or lunches. Cost is about $1.50 /hr. Unofficial parking is available at Scott Carpenter Park across 30th Stree as well as at the numerous businesses north of Arapahoe Rd. But parking at one of these areas is at your own risk. These businesses do occasionally monitor their lots and have ticketed people.

Tips for getting about town

  • INSTAAR is located at 1560 30th Street, Boulder CO 80303
  • US 36 becomes 28th Street as you enter town.
  • Numbered streets (i.e., 30th St.) run north-south, with low numbers to the west (toward the mountains).
  • East-west streets north of downtown have tree names and are arranged aphabetically northward (Alpine, Balsam, Cedar,...).

Directions from Airport to Hotel - TOLL route

This more northerly route uses a toll road and takes 40-55 min. Total toll is about $8. You will pay about $3 cash at one toll stop (exact change not required) and the remainder will be automatically billed through your license plate number (rental cars included).

  1. Head north on Pena Blvd toward Snakes Rd - go 1.6 mi
  2. Slight right toward Exit 6B - go 3.3 mi
  3. Take exit 6B for CO-E470/E-470 toward Fort Collins - go 0.9 mi
  4. Merge onto Hwy 470 N - go 17.4 mi

  5. Continue on NW Pkwy - go 9.4 mi

  6. Take the ramp onto US-36 W - go 8.1 mi
  7. Take the Baseline Rd exit toward CO-93 - go 0.2 mi
  8. Continue straight - go 371 ft
  9. Turn right toward 28th Access Rd - go 52 ft
  10. Turn right at 28th Access Rd - go 197 ft

Total: 41.0 mi - about 43 mins (up to 53 mins in traffic)

 

 

Directions from Airport to Hotel

This more southerly route does not use Toll roads. It usually takes 50-70 min, about 10-15 minutes longer than the toll route.

Condensed Directions

  1. Follow Airport Exit signs to Pena Blvd. After 9.7 miles, Pena Blvd. merges into I-70W.
  2. From I-70 W - Take the I-270 N Exit (exit number 279) toward Fort Collins.
  3. Merge onto US-36 W - Take Baseline Rd. Exit - Stay in middle lane after exit.
  4. Go straight through the light onto Frontage Rd. Hotel is one block on the right.

  3. Take the exit toward I-70 W - go 0.2 mi
  4. Keep right at the fork to continue toward I-70 W and merge onto I-70 W - go 5.8 mi
  5. Take exit 279 to merge onto I-270 W toward Ft Collins - go 5.8 mi
  6. Continue on US-36 W (signs for US-36/Boulder) - go 19.7 mi
  7. Take the Baseline Rd exit toward CO-93 - go 0.2 mi
  8. Continue straight - go 371 ft
  9. Turn right toward 28th Access Rd - go 52 ft
  10. Turn right at 28th Access Rd - go 197 ft
