In search of life in a pinch of salt: Integrated stratigraphy and sedimentology of Messinian evaporites in the deep eastern Mediterranean
The Messinian salinity crisis (MSC) is perceived as an environmental crisis governed by climatic and tectonic controls, affecting global ocean salinity, and shaping the Mediterranean's biochemical composition. In this work we investigate the previously inaccessible domains of the MSC in the deepest realms of the Mediterranean.
