Large, rapid sea-level rise is unlikely unless the flow of the great ice sheets changes. The rapid-fire discoveries about ice-sheet behavior show that we can’t make reliable projections yet. But what we know so far includes the possibility of notably accelerated ice flow, with special attention to the stability of Thwaites Glacier in West Antarctica.
