Distributed Discharge Animation

Requires the free Quicktime Player plugin v. 6. File size is 1.6 Mb (.mov format).

This ~1 minute-long animation shows a grid of simulated discharges throughout a small river basin in Kentucky in response to a short rain storm that ends at about the 20 second mark (when the thunder stops).

Red
= peak discharge, not present in all frames.

Purple & Black = very low discharge.

Close examination shows one flood wave (in red) catching up with another one along the main channel.
