Research

I am interested in paleoclimatology and paleoecology and believe that paleoenvironmental studies are important for modern conservation efforts and ethics. For my masters thesis, I am analyzing isotopes of paleosols (fossil soils) of Southwestern Kansas to study how climate and temperature changed during the evolution of grasslands in North America. I will also study modern soils to understand how soil is affected by changes in climate, temperature, and vegetation cover.

I am a member of the Environmental Biogeochemistry Group and the Diatom Laboratory.
