Luciana Alves
Primary Duties: Research Associate for INSTAAR and Scientific for National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON). Research Interests: Tropical forest structure and carbon dynamics; plant population ecology of tropical trees; the effects of habitat fragmentation on tree species’ richness and abundance, emphasizing forest regeneration. Supervisor: Alan Townsend

Kathy Anderson
Primary Duties: Paleoclimatological studies on a continental scale in North America, using pollen, plant macrofossils, and modern vegetation to look at past and future climate and vegetation changes. Supervisor: Anne Jennings.

Patrick Cappa
Primary Duties: Trace metal analysis of biogenic carbonates by ICP-MS. Wet chemical pretreatment of geologic samples, and isolation of CO2 in atmospheric samples, for AMS radiocarbon analysis. Research Interests: Isotope chemistry applications in paleo-climatology, oceanography, archeology and evolutionary biology. Supervisors: Thomas Marchitto, Scott Lehman

Kurt Chowanski
Primary Duties: Maintaining and operating meteorological monitoring stations at Niwot Ridge, Mountain Research Station. Supporting two NOAA groups in the collection of atmospheric air samples at Niwot Ridge. Research Interests: Climate and snow. Supervisor: Mark Williams.

Stephen DeVogel
Primary Duties:
Oversee daily operations of Amino Acid Geochronology Lab, maintain archival databases, and perform GIS and graphics tasks. Research Interests: Human impacts on the paleoenvironment with special emphasis on extinctions. Supervisor: Gifford Miller.

Rachel Edie
Primary Duties: Isotopic analysis of atmospheric CO2. Research Interests: Atmospheric and analytical chemistry. Supervisor: Bruce Vaughn.

Casey Flynn
Primary Duties: Field technician at the Niwot Ridge Long Term Ecological Research site, based out of the Mountain Research Station. Perform much of the regular field sampling for LTER, including water grab samples from surface water, ground water, soil lysimeters, and snow melt. Conduct regular snow surveys of fixed point snow grids and digging snow pits throughout the winter. Maintain several meteorological stations along the ridge, making sure instruments work properly and are producing good data. Research Interests: Snow metamorphism, snow hydrology, and geomorphology. Supervisor: Mark Williams

Primary Duties: Development of instrumentation for atmospheric measurements. Deployment of instrumentation in the field and maintenance of existing instrumentation. Supervisor: Detlev Helmig.

Primary Duties: LTER data and information management. Research Interests: Data management and information technology. Supervisor: Mark Williams.

Eric Hutton
Primary Duties: maintain and develop numerical models that predict the spatial and temporal distribution of marine sediments. Research Interests: sediment transport, computational fluid dynamics, and geophysics. Supervisor: Scott Peckham.

Zan Frederick
Primary Duties: Professional Research Assistant. Research Interests: Landscape controls on surface water composition. Supervisor: Suzanne Anderson.

Richard Kraemer
Primary Duties: Stable isotopes in atmospheric methane. Research Interests: Stable isotopes in atmospheric methane and the biological sources. Supervisor: Bruce Vaughn.

Leanne Lestak
Primary Duties: Research in arctic and alpine geography using GIS and remote sensing. Research Interests: Coastal change, flooding, climate change and policy in high-latitude environments. Supervisor: William Manley.

Jeff Lukas
Primary Duties: Tree-ring sample collection, dating, measuring, and data analysis. Research Interests: Climate variability in the interior West and its effects on human activities and ecosystems. Supervisor: William Manley.

Kelly Matheson
Primary Duties: Daily operations of the Mountain Research Station. Supervisor: Bill Bowman.

Sylvia Michel
Primary Duties: Isotopic analysis in greenhouse gases. Research Interests: Stable isotopes in atmospheric carbon dioxide and methane. Changes in biogeochemical cycles caused by invasive species. Supervisor: Bruce Vaughn.

Eric Parrish
Primary Duties: Create graphics and GIS based products, Information and image management, Scientific illustration, and support. Research Interests: Scientific illustration, ArcGIS, Remote Sensing and graphic software applications.

Bruce Vaughn
Primary Duties: Oversees the operation of the Stable Isotope Lab that performs isotopic analyses on atmospheric CO2, CH4, polar ice cores, water, and organic materials. The facility is comprised of several labs, and houses multiple prep systems, off line extraction systems, computing facilities, and six mass spectrometers. Research Interests: collaborative isotopic studies in ice cores, glaciers, atmospheric gases, and global change in general. Supervisor: Jim White. Lab Web Page

Isaac Vimont
Primary Duties: Operation and maintenance of dual inlet and continuous flow isotope ratio mass spectrometers. Research Interests: Ice core analysis, carbon monoxide analysis system development. Supervisor: Bruce Vaughn.

Jason Winokur
Primary Duties: Isotopic analysis in greenhouse gases. Research Interests: Investigative methods of sample acquisition procedures and equipment for quality control of data related to isotopic analysis of green house gasses. Supervisor: Bruce Vaughn.

Chad Wolak
Primary Duties: Laboratory manager, Sediment Geochemistry Lab. Research Interests: Climate reconstruction using alkenone-derived sea-surface temperatures. Supervisor: Scott Lehman.

Chi Yang
Primary Duties: Data manager and web developer for the Boulder Creek CZO. Collect, manage and update research data. Develop web-interface for access to research data. Supervisor: Suzanne Anderson.
