Research Interests
My interest is in sedimentary geology and numerical process simulation. I've worked on fluvio-deltaic deposits mostly.
Main areas of focus over the last few years were the Eridanos and Volga deltas.
Are you looking for abstracts and papers? Under the downloads you can find some.
I've done fieldwork in many beautiful areas; Norway, Nepal, Russia, Spain and just a little bit in the Rockies.
Short Bio
I did my Msc in 'Soil, Water and Atmosphere' at Wageningen University, The Netherlands. I completed a major in hydrogeology on an ice-contact delta in Norway in a joint project for the Department of Geology at Oslo University and the Department of Water Resource at WU. During 1995 I spent an interesting practical period with a NGO to assess groundwater-harvesting methods in rural India and carried out geological fieldwork in the Middle Mountains of Nepal. My final research was on the modelling of the Volga delta.
In 1997 I started a Ph.D. research on 'numerical modelling of fluvio-deltaic systems' at Delft University of Technology, Department of Applied Earth Sciences.
In addition to the Ph.D. research activities, I was involved in the 'Huesca Project' in Spain, which is a joint project of petroleum industry and DUT on outcrop analogues and reservoir characterization. I enjoyed the data collection, which even required alpine climbing skills, a great deal. I assisted every year in the fourth-years course 'Petroleum Geological Fieldwork' in that area.
Presently, I work as a Research Scientist at INSTAAR at the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA. Research activities focus on geological numerical modelling with emphasis on aspects of uncertainty prediction of sea-floor morphology.
This is the site of our little group, called the DELTAFORCE, at INSTAAR.
I will post a CV here if you want some more details......
Other activities
climbing; some ski-mountaineering and climbing stuff is under 'personal' link.
