INSTAAR and Stefansson Arctic Institute
Rather than speak about one specific project or some particular aspect of my research, I will talk about my own intellectual journey and how it has been shaped by the topic of a changing climate. I will discuss my first academic position in the Climatic Research Unit in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia in England, where I worked for 20 years, and the research I conducted there. Then I will continue with how my research focus changed when I moved to Boulder and became part of INSTAAR. Happily, I am still at INSTAAR, but I have had spells in between working at the CICERO Centre for International Climate Research in Tromsø in Norway and I am still a Senior Scientist at the Stefansson Arctic Institute in Akureyri, in Iceland. I will also speak in more detail about several of my recent and current research projects. I will refer to traumas as well as successes and try to highlight the importance of tenacity in research!
