Glossary


Biome - a major ecological community type (such as tropical rain forest, grassland or desert)

Dune - a hill or ridge of sand piled up by the wind

Fine Roots - are small root hairs plants grow in order to absorb water and nutrients

Homogenous - of the same or similar kind

Macro-organisms - living things that are large enough to see without the aid of a microscope

Micro-organisms - living things that are visible only with the aid of a microscope

Savanna - a biome characterized by scattered trees, grassland and drought-tolerant undergrowth

Sequestration - to hold or set apart

Stabilization - to make stable or firm
