Code of Conduct
Everyone is entitled to a safe, productive, and welcoming Arctic Workshop
All attendees and staff are protected by and expected to follow our policy. We will not tolerate harassment of or by Workshop participants in any session or event. People asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to stop immediately.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, nationality.
- Sexual images in public spaces.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
- Behaviors intended to make a person or group feel unwelcome, or to encourage ostracism of any individual or group.
- Harassing photography or recording
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events.
- Inappropriate physical contact.
- Unwelcome sexual attention.
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviors.
What should I do if I am being harassed?
Talk to a Workshop volunteer or staff person right away. If you feel an immediate danger to your personal safety, we also encourage you to contact local law enforcement as needed.

How will the Arctic Workshop respond to harassment?
We will work with both parties to ensure that harassment stops immediately, and do whatever we can ensure your safety for the remainder of the Workshop.
Actions the Workshop may take
- A warning to the offender not to repeat the harassing behavior
- Expulsion from the Workshop without a refund
- Banning participation in future Arctic Workshops
- Reporting the incident to the University of Colorado
- Reporting the incident to law enforcement
